Art Sell - Inducted 2011

Art is a 1965 graduate of Souderton Area High School, one of the first in a long line of outstanding football players produced by a Drew Darrah coached Team.

Art was a three-year letterman for Souderton Football -- 1962, 1963 and 1964. He was a starting defensive back in his first Varsity season. He was awarded First Team honors as a defensive back – his junior and senior year. Art set the record for interceptions for a single season.

(11)…Stars on the helmets were awarded for each interception and these stars were called “Sells”—the record still stands today. He was a member of the 1963 Co-Championship Team.

Art went on to play football for Bloomsburg State College. He was a four-year letter winner. Art started his first Varsity game as a defensive back but due to injuries was switched over to the offensive side of the ball. He went on to be Bloomsburg’s leading rusher three years in a row (sophomore, junior and senior years). Art was awarded All League Honors his senior year, All-PSAC Halfback Honorable Mention and Pennsylvania Collgeges Honorable Mention. He was inducted into the North Penn – Souderton Area Sports Hall of Fame on May 3, 1996.

Art was an assistant football coach at Central Bucks East High School, a PIAA football official (17 years),
helped organize Bux-Mont Chapter of Football Officials and Officiated the 1987 Montgomery County All-Star
game. He served as Souderton’s Interim Athletic Director in 2001-2003. At the present time Art is helping out
in the Souderton High School Athletic Department as the Equipment Manager. Art currently lives in Tylersport with his wife Linda and dog Otis. He has two daughters, Jennifer Rambo and Corey Clemmer and four grandchildren, Peyton, Kendall, Gavin, and Jack.
