Mike Salone - Inducted 2011

Souderton Area High School Class of 1988.

Mike was the first State Champion in any sport in the history of Souderton Area High School. In his senior year he was the PIAA State Wrestling Champion at 145lbs. Also his senior year, he was team captain and had a perfect season record of 37-0. Mike was the Buxmont Champion, District Champion, Region Champion and
eventually he won gold at the PIAA State Championships in 1988. Mike was the first wrestler to get 100 wins in school history and the only wrestler in school history to have a perfect undefeated season.He also achieved many other school records including most pins and fastest technical fall. Mike qualified for the state championships 3 times (10-12 grades).

He was the Eastern National Freestyle Wrestling Champion for the 9-10th grade category where he was
awarded a gold medal. He also won the Eastern National Greco Roman Wrestling Championship where he
was awarded his second gold medal. He went on to repeat this accomplishment for the 11-12th grade class
where he won the Eastern National Freestyle Wrestling Championships again receiving his third gold medal,
and the Eastern National Greco Roman Wrestling Championship for 11-12th grade receiving his fourth gold
medal in the AAU Eastern National Championships.

He was a varsity member of the Pennsylvania Greco-Roman National Team in 1986 and again in 1987. This
team competed nationally in Iowa against the 49 other State teams.

Mike achieved gold medals and was voted Most Valuable Wrestler in 1987 at both the Lower Moreland
Tournament and Boiling Spring Tournament and then again in 1988 at Boiling Springs.

He was a three year National Honor Society Student while at Souderton. Mike was awarded a scholarship
to Bucknell University where he was a four year varsity wrestler. He graduated from Bucknell University in
1992.

Mike currently resides in Telford, PA. His son, Nicholas, is 11 years old. He currently works for Sysco
Philadelphia in marketing and sales.
